Pictured: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim #twinpeaks - Acrylic on canvas - 26” x 46” - 2025   To begin, one must start in Nature. Imagine it’s late summer, and you stand on a hill overlooking a field of golden wheat. The sun is high, and your eyes are overloaded with swaths of canary yellow and amber. In winter, however, the ground is cold, and you stand where the wheat has fallen dormant. The cold sun reflects bright whites, and muted blues, and greens. Frozen and pale. Then comes sunset in the spring, and the sherbet sunset reflects colors from pink to bright orange to lilac onto the new blades of grass forming on the ground. Drawing from these subjects in nature, I set out to create dynamic blankets of color, which I see as potential backdrops for viewers' lives. Each painting I create corresponds to a particular scene in the natural world: An overlook of trees, a bed of roses, a puddle left over from the rain.  I feel it is not enough to try to capture these scenes as o...

Pictured: John, dear. Tractor. - Acrylic on canvas - 30” x 36” - 2024   Logan Lee was born and raised in rural Missouri, in a small town called Platte City. Surrounded by open sky and swaths of land, he had ample opportunity to observe the movement of the sun and reflect on the passage of time. Logan received a BFA in Musical Theatre from Missouri State University. He didn’t begin making art until 2019, when he suffered a broken ankle, and found himself with too much time on his hands. He started out depicting landscapes, with a focus on composition and shape, but soon his work transformed into psychedelic swirls of color, as he employed impulse and pure expression. Logan’s creative approach developed further when, in 2022, he began to work at Nougatine, a restaurant on Columbus Circle ...

Prior to making art full time, I had a 20 year career in educational simulation design. I paint and draw to express the human experience. I once read, in a Louise Erdrich novel, that the root of the word "sincere" is "sine cera," meaning "without wax." This has always stayed with me — it gets at what I am trying to do when I work. I attempt to get underneath the "wax" of society, of modern life, without the light pollution of the conscious mind, pretense, distraction, and ego; in order to capture somehow what we are all experiencing but don't really have words for. I find that employing symbolism and metaphor are the strai...
